Mohsen Alhaddad
A Story of Realizing Hope Through Clean WaterIn over 40 years of traveling around Indonesia, Mohsen Alhaddad has witnessed first-hand the reality of life in rural areas, how difficult it can be to live without access to clean water and proper sanitation. Initially, he sought to help those most in need by building wells in remote areas and communities experiencing water crises. However, limited capacity made these efforts challenging.
Not giving up, he found new support through collaboration with his brother-in-law, Ahmad Anis Alkherid, as well as help from family and friends who also supported both financially and advocacy. From here, the dream began to materialize again, not just providing a well, but also creating a safe space for the community to get clean water, sanitation, and a more decent life.
Taharah was born out of the belief that human dignity is a right of all people, not just those who can afford it. Having clean water, proper sanitation, privacy, and a life of dignity are not luxuries, but basic necessities that should be a right and a common interest, especially in Muslim communities.
